CARTA BELLA – ROCK-A-BYE BABY BOY ‘Dream Big Little One’ layout by Guest Designer Melinda France

Hi Everyone

Melinda here again to share another layout created with the Carta Bella ‘Rock a Bye Baby Boy’ collection of papers and embellishments.

For this layout I picked my photo first as I knew I wanted a cute photo of him sleeping. Twinkle Twinkle was his favourite nursery rhyme when he was tiny so for a long time I was undecided which side of the lovely ‘Sweet Dreams’ paper to use.

I finally settled on the text side, and decided that a torn effect on the papers was the way to go to complement the cloud embellishments I was using.

I typed my journalling up once again, and printed onto plain white cardstock. I then tore the bottom of the paper and rolled it a little before sewing it onto the background paper. I matted the photo on two sheets of patterned paper with the bottoms torn and attached these to each other and the page with my sewing machine as well.

I added a few more torn strips of paper across the page including one I embossed using my cuttlebug, and machine stitched these down. These provided a backing for the title sticker ‘Dream Big Little One’. I also added the safety pin sticker (mounted on foam tape), some other stickers, the chipboard moon and some enamel dots to finish off this corner.

In the bottom left corner I used two of the enamel shapes, one of the ephemera shapes, and some of the enamel dots.

I created a bit of an embellishment cluster using one of the paper fans, a chipboard sticker, some chipboard circles from the decorative brads pack, some enamel star shapes and a couple more pieces from the lovely ephemera packs. I finished it off with a couple more enamel dots.

To finish off I added some more tags, enamel stars and cloud, and some enamel dots in the top right hand corner of the photo.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this second layout I created. I had a lot of fun with these papers and if you’re playing with them too I’d love to see photos in the community.

CARTA BELLA – ROCK-A-BYE BABY BOY – Newborn Baby Boy Layout by Guest Designer Melinda France

CARTA BELLA – ROCK-A-BYE BABY BOY – Newborn Baby Boy Layout by Guest Designer Melinda France

Hello Crafters,

Briony here – just popping in quickly to introduce our special Guest Designer for the week.

In April, we celebrated Anna’s 11th Birthday by holding a Cybercrop.  Lots of challenges, games and competitions were held and one lucky crafter who completed all the challenges was announced as the Party Princess.

The lucky winner was MELINDA FRANCE!… and she was given the opportunity of being our Guest Designer, using a collection of her choice!

Melinda did a fantastic job and has lots of creations to share with you this week, so with no further ado, I will hand it over to Melinda… 🙂

Hi Everyone

Melinda here. I was so excited to get to play with the Carta Bella ‘Rock a Bye Baby Boy’ collection of papers and embellishments. My little boy is almost 2 and his baby album is empty, so this was perfect to get the project underway.

This is a gorgeous baby range full of nursery rhymes and sweet embellishments without being too babyish. I particularly love the texture and weight of the lovely Carta Bella Papers.

Although I often start by selecting my photo(s), in this instance I chose my papers first because I had decided I wanted this layout to only use the navy, blue, and mint coloured papers and embellishments.

I really liked the ‘Our Little Man’ paper as the main background paper. Particularly when paired with the ‘Bundle of Joy’ and the ‘Boy Nursery Rhymes’ papers (9×10” and 7.5×9” rectangles respectively). I liked these papers so much I actually cut out a segment of the two rear papers to make into another layout later on.

I added a white doily from my stash under the top matting paper and then used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges of the three photos, and the two matting papers. I stitched across the top of the main photo before attaching it by sewing around the other three sides. I also used my sewing machine to sew on some tags from the two ephemera packs to resemble the bunting that hangs in his bedroom.

In the bottom left corner I used two of the enamel shapes, one of the ephemera shapes, and some of the enamel dots to create the title ‘newborn baby boy’.

In the bottom right hand corner I created an embellishment cluster using one of the paper fans, a chipboard sticker, some chipboard circles from the decorative brads pack, and a couple more pieces from the lovely ephemera packs. I stapled on the journalling tag which instructs whoever is looking at the page to pull the ‘I love you’ tab to read the hidden journalling. I finished it off with a couple more enamel dots.

I typed the journalling on the computer and printed onto white cardstock. I added a tab from the ephemera pack, and it slides in behind the large photo on the layout.

Thank you so much for looking. I’d love to see photos in the community of any of your creations using this beautiful range.

Pinkfresh Studio – Live More by Kylie Cornish with Life Unscripted

Hi!!

Here it is my last layout using the new Pinkfresh Studio – Live more.

You wouldn’t guess what I did on this layout…..oh OK maybe you will…I did more stitching!! How could I not! LOL

I also added some stamping as the paper “Journey” really inspired this layout. I knew in my stash I had some triangle stamps and how could I not use them.

I just can not say it enough, this range has so many fun and matching accessories for it, from the foiled Die Cuts, Acetate Alpha’s, Puffy Stickers, Phrase stickers and more.

To add to the inspired triangles I used some washi tape to help tie in the stamping and “walla” there you have it a layout for my mothers day brunch.

You can see my process video for this layout over on Anna’s Craft Cupboard YouTube channel here

If you don’t have this range already I suggest you get some. 😉

The quality is amazing, and the simple graphic elements combined with copper accents and marble are so on trend and a pleasure to work with.

I hope my layouts help you work with this awesome range.

Cheers Kylie x

Pinkfresh Studio – Live More Collection ‘Everyday Magic’ by Kylie Cornish

Helloooooo

I’m back just like I promised and here is my second layout using the new Pinkfresh Studio – Live More range.

Once more I used my sewing machine to create texture on my layouts, and like in my previous post the paper in this range is thick and great to sew on.

I really loved the pinks in this range, they add that soft element to my layout and this gorgeous snapchat photo of my youngest daughter.

This layout I used the Acetate Alpha on this layout and to attach them I used stitching, this was a little tricky as I didn’t want to use tape, but in the end I love the way they are overlapped a little. I also wanted to add splashes of colour to this layout so using gesso, dylusion mist and water I made a thin paste to splatter on my layout. (HANDY HINT TIME) Do not use a heat gun near the acetate alpha’s….. they warp!! so if you are adding mediums that need drying do them first then use your heat gun, or let them dry naturally! but hey I don’t mind the warp! 🙂

I also wanted to add a little bit more colour to my layout so I used some enamel dots to do this and for more texture I distressed my papers and curled the edges.

and there you have…..

Everyday Magic

You can see the process video for this layout over on Anna’s Craft Cupboard YouTube channel here

I can’t wait to share my final layout using this range. I really had a blast creating memories with it…..sneak peek time below.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying this range as much as I am.

Cheers Kylie x

Pinkfresh Studio – Live More Collection ‘Little Delights’ by Kylie Cornish

Hello Crafters!!

I’m back with some DT goodness.

This month I played with the new Pinkfresh Studio – Live More  and boy what a great range.

The first thing that I really loved about this range was the thickness of the pattern paper, such great quality.

Also the amount of matching accessories, so many choices to complete so many layouts and projects.

I completed 3 layouts using this range, which surprised me as it would not be a range I would normally work with.

I think it was the geometric shapes it had, but once I started creating with it I just could not stop.

Since the range was busy, (that’s what I would call it) I kept my layouts simple and I think it really worked. I was heavily inspired by the shapes on the paper while creating my layouts.

So throughout the week I shall share my layouts I have created and for an added bonus I have also recorded a process video for each layout so you can see how I completed them. (Link Below)

Little Delights

I really liked the idea of sewing on this layout, I wanted to add texture to the page, but not messy texture (paste or mists) so I dragged out the sewing machine and using the lines on the Focus paper I enhanced the paper.

I just love how my photo pops on this layout, even though the paper is busy. This is also why I keep my embellishments in line with the photo to help the eye focus on the photo.

I loved that the embellishments had just the right words to complete how I felt about our day out playing mini golf.

This range is jammed packed with cool phrase stickers, and matching puffy stickers…..yep puffy stickers!!

You can see how I completed this layout on Anna’s Craft Cupboard YouTube channel here.

and here is a sneak peek of whats to come 😉

I hope I can inspire you to use this fantastic range, and be just like me and not so scared of those intense patterns and just dive in and create some great memories on paper….see you all soon with another layout 😉

Cheers Kylie x
